Sabiana makes Prada even cooler!

The date is getting closer and closer. On Saturday May 9th Fondazione Prada will open its permanent headquarters in Milan, a unique place that is already anticipated to be one of the city’s highlights. Fashionistas and not just them are eagerly counting the days to the grand opening, in view of the grandeur of the project, which was designed by the OMA firm led by starchitect Rem Koolhaas. It is an incredible experiment of shared art engaged in a constant conversation between past and future. The complex architectural layout, in fact, combines seven existing buildings with three new constructions (Podium, Cinema and Tower), for a total of 19 thousand square metres, and is the result of the renovation of a former distillery in the south east area of the city, in Largo Isarco, which dates back to the 1910s and has been completed redesigned by the OMA firm. In addition to the exhibition spaces, the facility will house a cinema, a theatre, the Prada archive and a space designated for children’s education at the entry – developed with the students of the École Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Versailles Bar Luce, designed by the US film director Wes Anderson, which recreates the atmosphere of a historical Milanese coffee shop and is set to become the meeting point of Milan’s chichi set. An extraordinary space and a complex project, for which the celebrated fashion house required the best. So for air-conditioning of the complex, the choice was to use Sabiana AHU and Fan Coils, to assure superior technological level and aesthetic quality of the appliances. Clean air urgently needed!

Torino, Varese, Rome: these Italian cities were covered by the research published on Lancet Oncology, recording some of the worst pollution levels in Europe. The fine dust suspended in the air exceed the parameters established by the European Community, according to which the particulate must remain below 40 micrograms per cubic metre for Pm 10 and below 20 micrograms for Pm 25. The figures are worrying: there is a very close relationship between the concentration of pollutants in the air and the risk to suffer from lung cancer. Unfortunately, this is confirmed by the new cases recorded in Italy since 2010. The fine dust we breathe every day when going for a walk on the streets of our cities and which seeps into our homes is an enemy we must fight. As soon as possible. Therefore, clean air is urgently needed, at least in the home. By implementing solutions that allow the fine dust to be filtered and withheld, without recirculating it in one’s living space.Torino, Varese, Rome: these Italian cities were covered by the research published on Lancet Oncology, recording some of the worst pollution levels in Europe. Milan’s Vertical Forest is awarded the prize for the most beautiful skyscraper worldwide. Air conditioning is signed by Sabiana.

The award, which was established in 2003 thanks to the joint effort of Frankfurt’s Architecture Museum (DAM), the city of Frankfurt and DekaBank, looks at all buildings that are at least 100 metres high. The parameters for the award include sustainability, design, quality of spaces and integration within the urban setting. The award is given every two years, and for this year’s editions, over 800 skyscrapers were examined on all continents. The international and multidisciplinary jury defined the Vertical Forest as an “expression of man’s need for contact with nature; a radical and courageous idea for tomorrow's cities and certainly provides a model for the development of high population density areas in other European countries.” With construction completed in June 2013, the Vertical Forest, designed by Italy’s Stefano Boeri and built by Hines Italia at Porta Nuova in Milan, is a complex consisting of two residential towers, 80 and 112 metres high, with 113 flats in a variety of shapes and sizes, each having access to its own balcony or terrace, able to hold 800 trees between 3 and 9 metres high, 11,000 perennials and creepers, 5,000 bushes: equal to 20,000 m2 of forest and undergrowth. As this project is cutting-edge and features strong criteria of sustainability and environmental impact, as well as design and quality, the designers opted for the air conditioning systems of the entire complex to be supplied by Sabiana, with about a thousand fan coils and flues. Italy’s crowning glories choose Sabiana. The Padua Botanical Garden has inaugurated the Biodiversity Garden, air-conditioned by Sabiana

After over 450 years, the oldest scientific garden in the world has been renovated, with a project seeking to enhance the existing part and a 15 thousand square metre extension, with five glass and steel greenhouses located within a 100 metre-long glass and steel gallery. Each glasshouse is the perfect reproduction of a climatic region of the plant, from the warmest and most fertile to the most extreme. Thanks to technology, the glasshouses have their own life, as a matter of fact “the building with the glasshouses also behaves like a plant. In other words, it purifies air, generates energy and holds water,” says architect Giorgio Strapazzon of the firm VS Associati, which developed the project for the new Botanical Garden. For air conditioning of the whole glasshouse building, the firm VS Associati has opted for the prestige and quality of products made by Sabiana, which supplied its Helios and Comfort air heaters, constructed according to criteria of sturdiness and safety and with a keen eye for design as always. The new garden will be one of the peak achievements showcased at the Italy Pavilion of Expo 2015. Sabiana at the top of the highest skyscraper in Europe

The focus on continuous product innovation and energy savings of the SkyStar and Carisma CRC fan coils were the two features that most contributed to Sabiana’s being awarded the most important contract in Europe: the one to increase the indoor comfort of Torre Pelli (or Unicredit Tower) and the whole Varesine Porta Nuova complex. "Porta Nuova represents the most important redevelopment project of an urban centre in Europe, fully implemented with a focus on environmental sustainability. Being asked to contribute represents a further recognition of our expertise in the field of energy saving air conditioning of large complexes,” said with pride Giorgio Pellegrini, Sabiana’s Managing Director.
